Introverting.Club
Introverting.club was born in March 2020 when Covid-19 began to spread across Europe. Country after country implemented national lock-downs around the world. People in my surroundings were questioning how they would keep sane staying inside for so long. As an introvert, I couldn't relate. I saw a need to share my knowledge and 26 years of experience of being an introvert, and that’s when the idea of introverting.club was born.

My Process
Empathise
My journey started with asking myself “How can I help with the skills I have?”. As an introvert, you lose energy when you are around people for a long time and have a need to recharge afterward. Therefore we are used to being alone from time to time. As an extrovert, on the other hand, you gain energy around people and therefore do not share the same need for alone time. Being forced to stay at home and not interact with others as much as needed can therefore be a challenge for many extroverts.
Ideate
I created a “how might we” question to open up for ideation that allows me to come up with different solutions. So I asked myself:
How might I help people to thrive and keep sane during a lockdown?
To answer my question, I mashed up my skills, my mission, and already existing ideas.
I used my personal trait of being an introvert and my skill of being a designer with the mission of helping others during covid-19. I also took inspiration from the website “WTF should I eat for dinner? and “WTF should I letter?”. Together it became Introverting.club.
Solution
The solution became a simple tool, in the medium of a website, that generates ideas. Once you push the button a random idea will show up. If you don’t like the idea, you go to the next one until you find something that sounds interesting. It’s as simple as that!
You will get suggestions on different challenges, meditations, training, but also a reminder to do that thing you been procrastinating for a while. Some suggestions are just plain silly and some encourage you to use your creative brain to help someone else. A little bit of everything.
I also added a “contribute” button to invite people to share their own tips to collectively build up a library that is diverse and something for everyone.
Brand Guidelines
A misconception is that introverts are boring, quiet, and looners. But being an introvert does not have to mean that at all. It’s a whole world to explore inside and it’s colorful, fun, and will surprise you.
That’s why I wanted Introverting.club to have a personality with strong colors, playful typography, and wiggly graphical elements.
Promotion Movie
When launching the project I created this promotion movie to announce and welcome introverting.club to the world. It got posted on Facebook, Instagram and Instagram stories.
Logotype
As I’m a big fan of hand-letttering, I always start with pen and paper. It gives me total freedom to create and customize the letters to express the personality of the brand. To finalize the logo I bring it into Adobe Illustrator to create a vectorized version.
Instagram content
To support the website I created an Instagram account where I posted things to do, tips on how to do it, and share current happenings that you don’t wanna miss. The thought was to come closer to the users, share tips and learnings and spread some light during the pandemic.
Publications
The project got published on the Swedish tech news site “Feber”. The text is only in Swedish
Reflection
This passion project of mine started from a need I saw in others and acted on solving it with the skills I had. I really enjoyed creating this idea from start to finish. Reflections are always good and here are some learnings I learned along the way that I can implement on my future projects:
Work fast
I have a tendency of wanting to perfect everything from the beginning which resulted in having to redo a lot of work when it needed to change. I learned that paper prototyping or a low fidelity prototype would have been the fastest way to move forward, get feedback and iterate to test the improved prototype again.Put more effort into research and data.
This idea came down as a lightning bolt and I just had to do it. I had for a long time been thinking of doing a project with the experience of being an introvert and haven’t found a way to fit it in. The ideas were very colored by my own assumptions and what I heard from people around me rather than driven by research and data, which I know is important.Do some iterations
This was my passion project and I would of course want to do some iterations of the website and see how far it could go.
